Irene, 91, longtime resident at Luther Park Senior Apartments, died June 17, 2012. Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at Brooks South Town Chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive. Irene's family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Irene O. Lacey, daughter of Emmett and Beulah (Abbott) Galvin, was born April 9, 1921 in Melcher, Iowa. She began working for Dahl's in 1949, and worked there 37 years before her retirement. Irene enjoyed visiting tearooms and coffeeshops and vacationing with her siblings. She was a longtime member of Staves United Methodist Church and also the Luther Park Red Hat Society.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Willard, Bob and Garold Galvin; her sister, Jeanne Busick; and two grandchildren: Jamie Cartwright and Holly Houston.

Irene is remembered by her children: Tom (Vera) Wise and Rita (Donald) Newquist; grandchildren: Terry Wise, Chuck Newquist, Mike Wise, Eirik Newquist, Kirk Newquist, Chuck Cartwright, Kay Jones, Kevin Cartwright and Garrett Wise; and many great-grandchildren.
