Karen Marie Medici-Geneser, 72, passed away from COPD on June 13, 2012 at her home. A memorial visitation will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 1001 S. James St., in Grimes on Friday, June 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. with an informal service beginning at 7 p.m.

Karen was a DOC Officer at the ICIW in Mitchellville for 15 years and previously worked as an EMT for several ambulance services in Des Moines. She will be remembered as a dedicated worker and as an independent and active individual who enjoyed the outdoors. She was an avid horseman and Yankees fan who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marian Medici as well as her special friend, Kenneth Heisler.

Karen's memory will be cherished by her son, Kendall (Sherri) Geneser; daughter, Kelli (Corey) LaLonde; grandchildren, Nicholas and Alex Geneser and Cole, Caleb and Kaitlyn LaLonde; sister, Donna (Mike) Manning; numerous nieces and nephews and former spouse, Frank Geneser.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a donation to be made in Karen's name at a later date.
