Larry Lou Muffler, 81, of Runnells Iowa, passed away August 19, 2022. He was born October 22, 1940, in Rock Island Illinois and grew up in Des Moines Iowa.

Larry attended and graduated from Des Moines Technical High School. He married his high school sweetheart Sharon Evans and together they raised three sons. He enlisted in the Navy as a communications specialist and was stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego. He supported his family with a career as an engineer at The Bendix Corporation in the 60's working on several Apollo missions. In the 70's he worked for the United States Atomic Energy Commission Nevada Operations at the Nevada Test Site. Larry retired from American Can in 2003.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; three sons, Mitch Muffler of Des Moines, IA, Todd Muffler (Stacy) of Runnells, IA, Paul Muffler (Roxanne) of Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren, Chad Heathcote (Julie) of Adel, IA, Lucas Medford of Westminster, CO, Shawn Coffman (Danielle) of Ankeny, IA, LeeAnna Muffler of Des Moines, IA, Jade Muffler of Des Moines, IA, Jessica Lathrop (Matt) of Des Moines, IA, Brittany Marvin of Indianola, OH, Justin Banks of Beebe, AR; four great-grandchildren, Eli, Lucy, Hunter, and Kelly. He leaves behind many loving friends and family. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Edna Muffler.

Service and Celebration of Life reception will be at Lee Town Assembly Church (2720 State Avenue, Des Moines) Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Larry will be laid to rest at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter Iowa.
