Alfred Mario Socarras, 66, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at home after a battle with Leukemia.
Having good looks and hair when he needed them, Alfred was united in marriage to his first wife Rhonda Lee Bellon in Corydon, lowa, on June 21, 1981. To this union came four children who inherited his good looks, and their mother’s brains: Laura, Daniel, Anne, and Renee.

Alfred was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dr. Alfredo Socarras and Maria Sentmanat Socarras on April 24, 1956. He received his education from Valley High School, graduating in 1974. He then attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1979 with a degree in Economics. Alfred was an insurance underwriter for the majority of his life and was currently working at Nationwide Insurance.

Alfred loved animals and nature. He especially loved prairie plants and the local opossums and squirrels. He passed this love of nature to his children. He liked to watch old movies, listen to a variety of music, and build Lego sets. He attended the Lutheran Church of Missouri Synod church.

Alfred loved young people and children. He cared for his "adopted" children from the Occupational Therapy class of 2020 at Drake University and many coworkers and friends through the years.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 41 years, Rhonda of West Des Moines, four children: Laura Olson (Daniel) of Waukee, Daniel of West Des Moines, Anne of Des Moines, and Renee of West Des Moines. He loved his three grandchildren Lucas, Andrew, and Hannah Olson. He is also survived by his father, Dr. Alfredo Socarras, and his six siblings: Vivian Bartlett, Noni Socarras, Tania Socarras, Daniel Socarras (Karla), Julie McDermott (Mike), and Patricia Pack (Eric). Also his mother-in-law Nancy Bellon, brother-in-law Jay Bellon (Heidi), sister-in-laws Joyce Brown (Mark), Jean Lain (Terry), and Jennifer Couchman (Eric), and many nieces and nephews.
