Mark Dean Hannam, Sr., 61, of West Des Moines, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Mark was born on April 11, 1960 to Harry “Dean” Hannam and Marjorie Howe Hannam in Des Moines. After he graduated from Urbandale High School in 1978, he went on to work at American National Can for 20 years. This led Mark to build a business with his father, Container Round-Up, which he owned and operated for many years before retiring. Growing up in Urbandale, Mark attended public school, participated in little league and the J-Hawk football team. He took great pleasure in many trips to the family farm in Melrose, as well as summers at the Hyperion Field Club swimming and golfing with countless friends.

Mark loved his family and enjoyed supporting his son play for the Des Moines Oak Leafs, watching his daughter play softball, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mark was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan, hockey fan, and loved hunting and fishing. He was a season ticket holder and shared many games with his best friends, Jeff and Shellie Lang.

Mark is survived by his four children; daughter, Jessica (Brendin) Hinman of Grimes, IA; daughter, Joslyn (Charles) Hannam of Grimes, IA; son, Mark Hannam, Jr. of West Des Moines, IA and daughter, Mikayla Hannam of West Des Moines, IA; sisters, Kamela Camp of The Colony, TX and Michelle (Thomas) Nolen of Centralia, IL; grandchildren: Jordan Hinman, Emersyn Hinman, Veda Caligiuri, and Collin Caligiuri; several nieces, a nephew, extended family, and friends, and his especially favorite cousin, Jimmy Howe of Ottumwa, IA.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Johnny Scaglione.

Memorials in Mark’s honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Des Moines Youth Hockey.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online condolences are welcome at www.IlesCares.com.
