Nancy Henter Goodman, 86, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Monday, April 11th at Iles Westover Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Mausoleum.
Nancy was born November 30, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa to LeRoy "Roy" and Jenny Crowley. After Jenny's death in 1941, Roy married Mildred Marienau. Nancy met her best friend, Peter Henter in Minneapolis, and they were married in 1958. The couple moved to Des Moines in 1966. Nancy enjoyed her work as a clerk in the Iowa Senate as well as other capacities in the Iowa Legislature. She was Executive Director of ISAE (Iowa Society of Association Executives) for many years. In 2012 she found a late life companion in her good friend Tom Goodman.
Some of her favorite pass times included golfing, summers at Spirit Lake, raising her two boys, and most of all spending time with all her grandchildren and extended family.
Survivors include her children: Jim Henter of West Des Moines, Kevin (Anne) Henter of Waukee; grandchildren: Jennifer, JD (Leslie), Joy, Jessi, Michael; great grandchildren: Ella Rose and Kellan; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Peter Henter in 2008 and James "Tom" Goodman in 2018; sister, Phyl Lefeber; brother, David Crowley.
Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House Hospice.
