Eileen D. Gust (Bogner) died April 9, 2022 after 90 years of life. She was born in Crofton, NE on April 14, 1931. She married Harvey Gust on May 28th, 1950 and they moved around the country until settling in Iowa in 1961. Eileen raised two children, Patricia (James) French, Green Bay, WI and Steven (Laurie) Gust, Ankeny, IA who were her greatest joy. Living in Iowa allowed for monthly drives to Nebraska to visit her parents, eating a meal on the way that she would pack for the trip. As a family, she spent weekends during the summer camping with friends until she and Harvey built a cabin at Lake Rathbun. There she enjoyed catching and eating fish, boating, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends. When Harvey developed Parkinson's disease, she was an incredible caregiver for longer than anyone could have expected. Even after 20 years, she continued to miss having Harvey in her life. Family was always important to her and she was close to her sisters and brothers as well as her grandsons, Dylan, Nathan, Colin and Carson, and her nieces and nephews. She also continued to see friends for lunch on a regular basis as long as possible. These last years found her with some health struggles and she was in and out of the hospital and rehab, then returning to her home. She spent the last two years at Edencrest Assisted Living in Ankeny.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey and all her siblings. We would like to thank the staff at Edencrest for their care at the end of life, as well as Kindred Hospice. If you would like to make a donation in her name, please do so to either Kindred Hospice or the American Lung Association. No service will be held. Her ashes will be taken to Crofton by the family at a later date. Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Urbandale, is assisting the family.
