Bev was born February 1, 1937, the daughter of Gladys and Howard Schuessler of Camp Dodge, and she was a graduate of Johnston High School. She and husband, Michael, moved to Altoona in 1963 and have lived there ever since.

Bev, whose friends called her “Duck” or “Martha”, was an active member of the Altoona community. She was involved in local political campaigns and referendums, was on the Campus board of directors, and was a charter member of the Terrace Hills Golf Course Ladies Club.
