Leona Evelyn Standridge (nee Schmidt)

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, age 84

Died peacefully in Roseville, Minnesota on May 9, 2011. Preceded in death by husband of 36 years Henry Howell Standridge. Survived by daughter Karla Standridge Cole (Matthew) of Saint Paul, Minnesota, grandchildren Henry Standridge Cole and Geneva Valerie Cole, sister Doris Albrecht of Burnsville, Minnesota, brother Norman Schmidt (Linda) of Mason City, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.

Leona was born in Tripoli, Iowa, graduated as a nurse in 1948 from Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, and later moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she married, lived and worked for many years. She returned to Des Moines in 1989 and moved to Minnesota in 2010.

The Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1074 Idaho Ave W, Saint Paul, MN. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. Leona will be buried at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Avenue, Des Moines at 11 a.m. Monday May 16 (meet at the entrance prior to service) with a luncheon afterwards at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 5625 Franklin Avenue, Des Moines.
