Esmeralda Davis, age 81, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at her home in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 under the direction of The Reverend Art Ousley. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Hamilton's Funeral Home on Lyon Street.

Born August 2, 1929, Esmeralda Davis was the daughter of Robert and Juanita (Brown) Burke. Esmeralda grew up in Montclair, New Jersey where she attended school. She retired as a Secretary of Probation and later worked as a Teacher's Associate.

Esmeralda was a member of Rose Temple #33 and Bethel AME Church. She enjoyed playing cards, collecting miniature liquor bottles, but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley Davis; sons, Tyrone Anderson Sr., and Russell Bailey; grandsons, Tyrone Anderson Jr., Kory Anderson, and Anthony Clark. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edgar Burke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Juanita Burke; brother, Robert Burke Jr.; and a sister, Jacqueline Hackney.
