February 15, 2012, Wayne Burton Michael, Our Loving Father, Grandfather, Family Member and Friend left our world to walk with his Lord. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Burial will follow at McDivitt Grove Cemetery with military honors rendered by the US Navy.

Wayne was born on September 29, 1927, in Des Moines to Le Roy and Pearl Michael. He had one sister and eight brothers. Wayne enlisted in the Navy on October 4, 1945, and was honorably discharged on October 4, 1949. He was retired from Bridgestone Firestone Tire and Rubber Company where he was a Boiler Engineer. Wayne was a minister at Chesterfield Christian Church in Des Moines. His hobbies were antique tractors and gas engines.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, and all of his siblings. He is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Wayne will be missed deeply by all who loved him but will remain forever in our hearts and continue to be our inspiration each and every day.
