Raymond, 82, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Raymond was a loving father and grandfather. He was married to Joyce Messer for 62 years.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents; a stillborn son and his son, Butch.

Those left to remember Raymond are his children: Steven Messer of Des Moines, Gary Messer of Des Moines, Belinda Lander of Des Moines, and Jack Messer of Shreveport, LA; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the chapel at the Iowa Veterans Home, 1301 Summit Street, Marshalltown, IA 50158. There will be a small reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Malloy 2 North Wing at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Thur 09 Feb 2012.
