Petra Munoz, 41, passed away March 24, 2011 at Bright Kavanagh House due to a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be Friday, April 1 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Scripture service at 5 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home (4400 Merle Hay Rd., Des Moines). Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m., Saturday, April 2 at the Our Lady of the Americas Church (1271 E. 9th St., Des Moines). Burial will be at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.

Petra is survived by her parents, Juan and Josefina Sanchez of Guachinango, Mex.; husband Efrain F. Munoz; her sons, Efrain A., Juan, and Adolfo Munoz all of Des Moines, IA; sisters Alicia Sanchez, Yolanda (Felipe) Curiel of Perry, IA. Irene (Francisco) Grima, Chuy (Hugo) Vera, of Sioux City, IA, Guadalupe (Jorge) Becerra, Margarita (Joe) Lopez of Los Angeles, CA, Candelaria (Luis) Vargas of Guadalaja, Mex.; brothers, Salvador Sanchez of Hawarden, IA and Juan Sanchez of Guachinango, Mex., and many nieces and nephews. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Wed 30 Mar 2011.
