Barbara Lou Bishop, 71, passed from this life on Monday, March 28, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel in Des Moines. Cremation rites will follow the visitation. There will be no services held. Private committal services will take place at a later date.

Barbara was born on May 31, 1939 in Hershey, PA.

She is survived by her husband, George L. Bishop of Des Moines; three children, George L. III (Karen) Bishop of Pella, April (Larry) Baldwin of New Virginia and Brian (Meredith) Bishop of Des Moines; three siblings, Virginia (Ken) Walborn, Helen (Paul) Finney and Charles McKee; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
