Fern Molloy, 91, passed away on May 5, 2011 at Southern Hills Care Center in Osceola, where she had resided for a year. Prior to that, she lived at the Senior Manor in St. Charles, leaving her long-time home in Des Moines to be closer to her daughters.

Fern was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 28, 1920 to Henry Walter Steele and Margaret Ellen (Hughes) Steele. She grew up in Des Moines and attended East High School.

She was united in marriage to George L. Molloy, Jr. on July 1, 1939. Three children were born to this union - Henry G. Molloy, Margaret E. Bryan, and Veronica J. Woods (Duane). She worked outside the home at part-time jobs, but most of her life was spent making a home for her husband and children.

After being married for 52 years, Fern lost her husband in 1992. She then kept herself busy by spending more time with her children and grandchildren, dining out, attending live horseracing and playing slot machines at Prairie Meadows. She was also an avid reader, mostly enjoying suspense stories and legal thrillers.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Henry; Grandson, Robert Woods; Grand Daughter, Vanessa Johnson; and Son-In-Law, Joe Bryan. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Margaret and Veronica, both of Truro; 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
