1930-2003David O. Haning, 73, died December 29, 2003. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2003 at Bondurant Christian Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 1 at Altoona Funeral Home.
David was born in Iowa City on April 1, 1930 to Oliver and Nina (Hodgson) Haning. He was raised in Colfax, graduated from Colfax High School and spent most of his adult life in Bondurant. David served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. David married Patricia Ann Harrison in 1953 and had three children. He was a Traffic Manager and Dispatcher at Mid Severn Transportation for over 25 years and a long time Board Member of the Steel Carriers and Machinery Haulers Association. He belonged to the American Legion Post No. 396 where he was a former Adjutant and Commander. He was a former BF School Board Member and President and Elder Emeritus of his church.
David actively participated in sports and continued that interest as a spectator, coaching and officiating youth sporting activities. He was a Cub Scout Leader and Cub Master and served on many church committees and boards.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia of Bondurant; daughter, Vikki and husband Chris of Mingo; sons, Tom and wife Debi of Lone Tree, CO, and John and wife Patti of North Salt Lake, UT; eight grandchildren; and four brothers, Bob of Phoenix, AZ, Ed of Omaha, NE, Jim of Des Moines and Dick of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ted.
