Gordon Eugene Munyon, 75, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on January 15, 2009. Visitation will be Monday, January 19, 2009, from 12-2 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 S.W. 9th, with service following. A private family burial service will be held Tuesday at Munyon Cemetery, Decatur County, Iowa.

Gene was born in Grand River, IA, to Esther and Gordon Munyon on July 2, 1933. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, but spent most of his years living in Des Moines, Iowa, and working as the Branch Manager for Continental Baking Company. He enjoyed golf, his Chicago White Sox, a good pinochle or pitch game, music, and laughter.

Gene is survived by his daughters; Cynthia Munyon (Richard Dilley), Cheryl (Mark) Critelli, Carin (Doug) McCloskey, and grandchildren Andrew and Catherine Dilley; Alexandria, James, and Daniel Critelli; and Taylor and Rachel McCloskey.

Gene was preceded in death by his sister Natalie, and parents Esther and Gordon Munyon.
