Janis Waldorf, 65, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Janis was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Des Moines to Anna (Ziebert) and Gerald Person.

She graduated from North High School and on June 26, 1965, she married Leonard Waldorf.She enjoyed quilting, reading, sailing, Drake basketball and was a member of the Red Rock Yacht Club.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Leonard of West Des Moines; her daughter, Ann Marie Van Thomme and son-in-law, Kurt Van Thomme of Ankeny; grandson, Adam Van Thomme of Ankeny; brother, Dale Person and his wife, Karen; nephew, Fletcher Person and his wife, Starr and niece, Katherine Person, all of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 607 High Street, Des Moines.

Visitation was 5:30-7 p.m. Monday at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Chapel, 8201 Hickman Road, with a rosary at 7 p.m.Interment will be in the Runnells Cemetery
