Gracia Rose Griffey, 69, of Odessa, Texas passed away Feb. 1, 2005, after a brave battle with cancer and emphysema.

Gracia was born July 17,1935, in Valley Junction, Iowa to Paul and Frances Dickey Lewis. She graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, in 1953 and spent one year majoring in Education at Northern University of Iowa in Cedar Falls and one semester, Sociology at Grandview College in Des Moines. Gracia worked as an Executive Secretary for the Iowa Catholic Conference and the City of Des Moines Housing Code Enforcement.

Gracia married Ron Griffey on June 7, 1975, in Omaha, Nebraska, and they moved to Odessa in 1979. During her time in Odessa, Gracia worked for Perry Gas Processors, the Odessa Police Department and Sivalls Inc. She spent the last 12 years of her retirement on the Internet with old school mates and other friends.

Gracia was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Marine Sgt. John Dilse in 1991.

Gracia is survived by her husband of 30 years, Ron Griffey, retired Chief Inspector for City of Odessa; now living in Des Moines, Iowa, a half sister Cynthia (Cindy) Kilker of West Des Moines; two sons, Paul Dilse of Odessa, and Vern Dilse of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandsons Paul in Odessa and Cody Dilse, in US Navy, six step-children in Des Moines, Iowa, and Buckeye, Arizona.

She has been greatly missed for the last eight years by all who knew her.
