Jim Neal, 82, died July 30, 2005 while visiting family in Kuldiga, Latvia.

Jim was born in Waterloo, IA on January 30, 1923. He worked as an electrician and was a retired member of IBEW #347 and the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Milda; parents, Jay Charles and Bertha Irene Neal; brother, Jerry; and sisters Janet Vreeland and Margaret McAdams.

He is survived by his son, Andre Ekis, Daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Coon; sister Dorothy Moore; brother-in-law Dzidra Dabolina of Kabile, Latvia; grand children, Andrea (Jorge) Ekis, Joe (Nicole) Ekis; Matthew (Tamike) Welbourn and Scott Welbourn; great-grandchildren Nathan Welbourn and Carson Ekis; and special friend, Lois Lavia.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1548 8th Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Burial of cremains will be in Kintz Cemetery in Mingo. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa Sun 21 Aug 2005.
