Earl W. Hodge

Earl W. Hodge, 95, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Per his request, the body has been cremated.

A memorial service planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to Diabetes Association or Noah's Ark Animal Foundation. Cards and memorials can be sent to 1707 Linden Drive, Unit C, Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made at behnerfh.com.

Mr. Hodge was born July 12, 1919, in East Pleasant Plain, the son of Chalmers and Laura Mae Sinn Hodge. He married Mary Fogelson May 24, 1947; she died May 1, 1998. He married Barbara Wilson April 3, 1999, at Hope Lutheran Church.

Mr. Hodge served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a U.S. postman in for 35 years at the Des Moines office.

In 1999, he and his wife Barb moved to Agency and lived there until 2007 when they moved to Fairfield.

He attended Hope Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Wilson-Hodge; one son, Charles Hodge and wife Sharon of Rogersville, Missouri; one daughter, Sharon Olson and husband Richard of Ames; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Gregory of North Carolina; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters, Laura Glasgow and Velma Nuckolls.
