Adolph E. Peschke, 98, of Des Moines, IA passed away peacefully with his son and daughter by his side on November 23, 2012.

Adolph was born in St. Louis, MO, October 27, 1914, to Cecil and Adolph Peschke. In 1943 he married his lovely wife, Grace. They lived in Webster Groves, MO and raised their children, Don and Jayne.

Adolph joined the Boy Scouts as a youth and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was proud to be continuously registered as a Scout for over 85 years. He volunteered much of his time to the Boy Scouts, particularly at Beaumont Scout Camp in St. Louis. There, he started the trail guides for weekend horse ride camping trips, taught adult Scout leaders at Wood Badge courses, and wrote the founding charter for the Eagle Scout Association.

Most importantly, he headed up the Pioneering courses at five National Scout Jamborees, teaching thousands of Scouts the skills of knot-tying and building structures (bridges and towers). He wrote the Scout Pamphlet on Pioneering. For his contribution to Scouting, he was awarded the Silver Antelope, a national Boy Scout Award.

Adolph is survived by his son, Donald (and Kay) Peschke of Des Moines, and his daughter, Jayne (and Ray) Donatucci of Superior CO along with three granddaughters, Elizabeth Shepard, Anne Grace Donatucci, and Lauren Donatucci and his sister, Virginia Revelle, 99, of St. Louis, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or Young Life (account 1555).

There will be a Celebration of Adolph's life at August Home Publishing offices, 2200 Grand Ave., Des Moines at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2012.
