Bernice Evelyn Ivins (1920 - 2012)

Bernice Evelyn Ivins, age 91, of Des Moines, IA, was the daughter of Ross and Sophia Kost. She died at Fleur Heights under the care of Hospice of Central Iowa on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

On September 3, 1940 Bernice married Max Leander Ivins at Corydon, IA. Two sons blessed this union, Norman and Jerry. The couple farmed in Decatur County, south of Woodland, IA from 1940 to 1947 when they moved to Des Moines. She was a homemaker raising her two boys.

Preceding her in death was her husband Max, her parents, four brothers, and four sisters. Survivors include her two sons: Jerry and Donna Ivins of Des Moines, and Norman and Julene Ivins of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa. Visitation is Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time.
