C. Fred Stout,Jr., 79, of the 700 block of 21st Street, West Des Moines, died of a kidney ailment Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Central Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member.

Mr. Stout was born in Minneapolis and lived in the Des Moines area most of his life. He was retired as chief of dairy trade practices at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He enjoyed travel, photography, music and reading.

He is survived by his wife Elisabeth; a daugter, Susan Ryan of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sons, Fritz of Cheney, Wash., and David of Cadillac, Mich.; a brother, John of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McLaren's Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
