She lived an independent life, never marrying or starting a family. She was able to live on her own terms right to the end.

Geraldine was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star for many years. She was initiated in the Woodburn Chapter #342 in June 1967. During her years of service with the Woodburn chapter, Geri held many official office positions, including serving three terms as Worthy Matron. In February 1988, Geri became affiliated with the Indianola Chapter #338. Over the years with this chapter Geri also held multiple office positions including one term as Worthy Matron, as well as, ten terms as the Chapter's Chaplin. In addition, Geri was the Grand Representative in Iowa for Louisiana State from 1980-1981; she also held dual membership with the Ophir Chapter #267 in Osceola.

Geri was world-wise and could actively carry on a conversation on any topic. She traveled frequently through the Midwest, to the west coast by train and even toured Europe many years ago.

For those who would like to remember Geri, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership.

She leaves behind many, many dear friends along with her closest relatives, brother Peter Marts and nephew Tony Marts. She will be missed but not forgotten.
