Emery James Jackson, Jr., 86, died on October 16, 2009 of complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
He was born on August 28, 1923 to Emory James Jackson Sr. and Harriet Jackson, in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home 605 Lyon Street, with a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. A burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery will follow the funeral services in Van Meter, Iowa.
He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines, a graduate of North High School and Cummings Art School, he loved fishing and hunting, he was a gifted artist who drew charcoal Portraits and painted portraits winning awards at a young age, he was the art department manager of Library Binding Service and was a World War II veteran and was stationed in the Philippine Islands.
The owner and president of PAMECO, inc. (Pam, Ada, Mike, Emery and Company) a direct mail and presort mail company that flourished from 1970-1990 and a member MASA (Mail Advertising Service Association).
Emery is survived by his loving wife, Ada (Campbell) Jackson; children, Michael Jackson (Marlene) of Olathe, KS and Pamela Wagner (Tyree) of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Rick Jackson of Las Vegas, NV. Michael D. Jackson of Overland Park KS, Christen McAndrews (Chad) Omaha, NE. Tyree Wagner Jr. of Omaha, NE and Kiana Jackson of Olathe KS and a host of nieces nephews and family
He was preceded in death by his Parents Emory James Jackson Sr. and Harriet (Boone) Jackson; brothers, Lancet, William, and Carol, and sister Bette Jean (Jackson) Evans.
