Morris R. McCleary, 81, of 3704 Ashworth Rd. West Des Moines, died Feburary16, 1997 of complications of a brain tumor Sunday at Kavanagh House. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. McCleary was born in Bondurant. He served in the Army during World War II and retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Army Reserve. He also retired as chairman of the board and past president of Home Plan Savings and loan. He belonged to the State Bar Association, the Elks Club, the Samuel Bridges American Legion Post and a military group, The Polar Bears.
He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Riehl of Bethesda, Md And Kathleen Biernbaum of Omaha Ne.; a son John of West DesMoines; four brothers, Abel and Roy of Ankeny, Ward of Urbandale and Walter of Bondurant; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. A vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
