Grover Hertzberg, 74, passed away Friday July 4, 2003 at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Memorial services will be Friday July 11, 2003 at Westover Funeral Home.
Grover was born in Des Moines where he lived most of his life. He attended Hubbell and Roosevelt Schools and graduated from Iowa State University with BS and MS degrees, he also attended Officers Candidate School in Newport Rhode Island after which he was stationed at the Communications Station on Guam, Marinias Islands. He also taught at the Communications Station in Newport Rhode Island.
He returned to Des Moines and was Vice President and Secretary of Library Binding Service Inc. a family business. He served as Chairman of the Board of Governors Iowa State University Foundation from1991 to 1993. He was a member of the ISU Alumni Association, ISU Cyclone Club, ISU Library Foundation Council, Theta Delta Chi Fraternity and Polk County Extension Master Gardeners. He was also a 33 Degree Mason, Master of Kadosh of Scottish Rite and a member of York Rite, High 12, Waveland Park Masonic Lodge and Waveland Park Chapter O.E.S.
Grover was a loving and caring husband, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Gladys and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Kavavagh House on 56th Street and St John’s Lutheran Church or Des Moines Consistory.
