Harvey W. Moeckly, 76, of 204 SE Uehlamar Drive, Ankeny, died of Lou Gehrig's disease Wednesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ankeny Church of the Brethren, and burial will be at Crocker Cemetery (now called Moeckly) near Polk City.

Mr. Moeckly was born in Polk City and moved to Ankeny in 1968. He retired as a farmer and dairyman and was a member of the Church of the Brethren, Kiwanis Club, Polk City Masonic and Eastern Star lodges and Polk County Farm Bureau.

Among survivors are his wife, Hazel; a son, Maurice of Polk City; three sisters, Wilma Mayner of Ankeny, Eloise Hall of Polk City and Ann Booton of Des Moines; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or the ALS Foundation.
