Hazel Moeckly, 90, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2006 at Church of the Brethren in Ankeny with burial in Crocker Cemetery (now called Moeckly). Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens.

Hazel was born February 8, 1916 to Lloyd and Essie Howard on a farm. In June 1938 she married Harvey Moeckly. Together they farmed for 33 years. Hazel enjoyed traveling with Harvey and promoting the dairy industry. She was involved in the Polk County 4-H, Polk County Farm Bureau and the Polk County Fair Board. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Ankeny. Hazel's pride and joy was her family.

Hazel is survived by her son, Maurice (Esther) Moeckly; two brothers, Lawrence and Harold "Swede" Howard; sister, Lucille Liljegren; four grandchildren, Natalie (Dave) Bellis, Kent (Melinda) Moeckly, Kevin (Nadia) Moeckly, Craig (Kristin) Moeckly; seven great-grandchildren, Shawn, Cody, Garrett, Krystal, Lane, Ben and Madeline. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, her parents and one brother, John.

Memorial contributions may be made to ALS or Church of the Brethren in Ankeny.
