Former Ankeny Police Chief Arthur J. Doubleday, 73, of 1125 W First St., Ankeny, died of a respiratory ailment Saturday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Ankeny. Burial will be in Ankeny Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Mr. Doubleday was born in Elkhart and lived in Ankeny 45 years. He had been a farmer and retired as chief of the Ankeny Police Department in 1974. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Robert J. of Ankeny; a daughter, Judi Logan of Ankeny; two sisters, Mary Dunn of Green Valley, Arizona, and Faye Eagon of California; two brothers, Harold of Stuart and Clifford of Ankeny; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Ankeny Funeral Home.
