Irma Christine Hining Gardner, 90, passed away July 7, 2010.

Irma was born January 12, 1920 in Floris, IA to Elmer and Inez Hining. She graduated Valedictorian in 1938 from Eldon High School in Eldon, IA. Irma was a member of the Iowa State Teacher's Association, Prime Timers Senior Group in Pleasant Hill and Rising Sun Church of Christ. She was an expert seamstress and in her later years, became an avid genealogist.

She is survived by her children, Carol Lee, Keith Gardner and Joyce Williams; grandchildren, Kimberly Alderman and Jason Chittenden; great-granddaughter, Amelia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William A. Gardner; and brothers, Hollis and Verdus Hining.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Rising Sun Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cono Christian School in Walker, IA.
