Cheryl passed away peacefully Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines surrounded by her friends and family.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010 at Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church with burial following at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orilla, Iowa. A visitation will be from 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday with family present 2 to 5 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home.

Cheryl was born August 28, 1953 to Thomas and Jane Cox in Los Angeles, CA. She was raised on the southside of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. She spent most of her life in Des Moines and was employed as a Data Coordinator with Principal Financial. She enjoyed genealogy and scrapbooking.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Thomas and Jane Cox; her sons, Jason Kennedy, Vernon (Jad) Kennedy, Bradley (Michael) Nessa; grandchildren, Alanna, Alyssa, Erik and Matthew Kennedy; brothers, Jeff Cox and Mike Cox; sister, Linda West; stepbrother, Donald Atkinson; stepsister, Michelle Walker; best friend, Lori Carlson; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Virginia Cox; grandparents, Willard and Nellie Cox; great-grandparents, Martha and George Carroll; grandmother, Willidene Carroll.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Cheryl.
