Gerald Rihard Howard, 61, of 4026 Sixth Ave., died of cancer Thursday at Iowa Methodist Hospital after a three-year illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Highland Park Christian Church, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Howard was born in Saylorville and lived at Bondurant most of his life before moving to Des Moines two years ago.

A retired farmer, he was graduated from the former Highland Park College of Commerce and was a member of Bondurant Lions Club and Highland Park Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; two sons, Jerry of Ankeny and Donald of Rochester, Minn,; a daughter, Mrs. Sally Bailey of Bondurant; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Howard of Saylorville; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Francis of Independence, Mo., and five grandchildren.

The body is at Arnold's Highland Park Funeral Home.
