Eleanor Beatrice Howard, 83, of 4026 Sixth Ave. died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Ramsey Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Highland Park Christian Church, and burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Howard was born in Albia and moved to Des Moines in 1971 after living in Bondurant and Ankeny. She retired from teaching in the Saydel schools and was a member of Des Moines Women's Club, PEO, Iowa Methodist Medical Center Guild, the Christian Church and Hospice International.

Among survivors are a daughter, Sally Hamlin of Ankeny; two sons, Donald of Plymouth, Minn., and Jerry of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Louisa Gibson of Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at her church, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. Highland Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
