William Iiams, 75, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008, from a heart attack at his home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Iles Funeral Home – Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
William was born May 15, 1932, in Estherville, Iowa. For 28 years, he served proudly with the United States Army, until he honorably retired in 1980.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Caroline Iiams of Des Moines; six daughters, Kathleen (Rick) Hainline of Springfield, Mo., Susan (Curtis) Doll and Nancy (Ron) Newell, both of Des Moines, Deborah Iiams, Patricia (Mel) Herkelman and Brenda (Rod) Wilson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters and three brothers. William was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Alma Iiams; and one sister, Beverly Fiihr.
Memorials may be made to either D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans) or American Diabetes Association.
