Mrs. Marquis Chase ~ 1897

On Friday, January 15, 1897 at her home in Dover township, 8 miles north-west of Fonda, Josephine Moore, wife of Marquis L. Chase died at the age of 33 years and 25 days.

The deceased was born in Butler County, Iowa on Dec. 21, 1863 the daughter of Joseph and Luana Moore.

On Nov. 28, 1870 she became the wife of Marquis L. Chase and their new home was located in Dover township, Pocahontas county, Iowa.

Her general health for a number of years has been effected more or less seriously by heart trouble. Her last illness was a short duration. Becoming the subject of an attack of the measles she was laid aside from the performance of the active duties of the home and in 6 days she was numbered with the dead and departed. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband and two children, Walter and Charles aged 15 and 12 years respectively.

The funeral services were held at her late home last Sunday morning by Rev. R.E. Flickenger and her remains were laid to rest in the Fonda cemetery.
