The remains of the late D. J. Allen of Laurens, arrived from the south on the Central this morning at 9:35, from San Diego, Cal., where the deceased passed away last Wednesday. Upon their arrival the remains were taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Holmes, and at 1 o'clock this afternoon were transferred to the Methodist Church where they lay in state until 2 o'clock the hour of the funeral.

Messrs, J.F. Meeker, George A. Turner, N.S. Ketchum, G.F.Kirby, J.C. Riddle, of Webster City, and William Hazlett of Pocahontas Center, constituted the number of pall bearers at the depot, and also officiated at the funeral with the addition of Messrs. S.B. The floral offerings from friends were numerous and beautiful and the attendance at the funeral was very large. Many members of both the Marshall and Iowa Valley Masonic lodges were in attendance, the deceased having formerly been a member of the Marshall lodge.
