Death of 3 Old Neighbors 1907

The death of three old people, residing near each other in the township of Marshall, within the time of 16 days, who had all resided there the last 18 years, or nearly that length of time, and who all 3 were born in the same town in Germany, grew as children together and attended the same school, is something not often recorded.

Peter Fix, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. C. Thoma at 8 o'clock on New Years Evening. He had for the last 2 years made his home with Mrs. Thoma, and for 17 years preceding that time had resided in Dover Township. Deceased was 71 years and 28 days.

Adam Schnetter died at the home of his son, Mike Schnetter, Sunday, Jan. 6, at the age of 72 years, having been a resident of that township for the last 14 years. Funeral was held Jan. 9, at the North Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. M. Bittner, mother of Oscar Bittner and Mrs. Anton Thoma, died at the home of the latter in Marshall Township on Wed. Jan. 16, and the funeral was held Sat. Jan. 19. Deceased was 72 years old and had been a resident of Marshall township the last 18 years.

These old people had come to America about 27 years ago, the bodies of each were buried at the North Catholic Cemetery where the funeral services were also conducted, and Rev. W. A. Pape of Pocahontas was called on each instance to perform the last sad rites.
