Funeral services held Saturday for Sadie Goodchild

Funeral services were held at the Havelock Methodist Church Saturday for Sadie V. Goodchild, 75, who died at the Palo Alto Memorial Hospital at Emmetsburg last Wednesday. The Rev. M. M. Frevert, pastor of the Havelock Methodist Church, officiated. Hitchcock Funeral Home of Laurens was in charge. Burial was at the Washington Cemetery in Havelock, with Richard Logan, Wayne Philp, Lee White, Darius Logan, Dale Spiker and Harold Hauswirth serving as pall bearers. At the church services, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nystrom sang, a duet, with Mrs. Harold Johnson serving as organist.

Sadie Viola Goodchild, fifth, of a family of seven children, was born at Havelock Aug. 3, 1891 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Goodchild. Her entire life was spent in the Havelock community. Miss Goodchild had been a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary. During World War I she headed the community Red Cross Chapter. She was a member of the Havelock Methodist Church, and was a longtime town clerk of Havelock.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mary Green of West Bend and Kathryn Goodchild of Havelock, and a brother, Ned Goodchild, also of Havelock.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
