Ethel Christenson

Funeral services were held Tuesday for former resident Ethel Christenson, Sioux Rapids, at the Smith Funeral Chapel, Laurens. She died Feb. 5,1983, at the Sioux Care Center where she had been a resident for the past six years.

Ethel Greenland was born Aug. 13, 1888, at Udall, Kan., to Benjamin Franklin and Cora Mae Hallock Greenland. She came to Gilmore City, Iowa, in a covered wagon as a small child. She married Martin Christenson in 1908, and they lived in Gilmore City, Marathon, Laurens and 12 years in Morris, Minn. Mr. Christenson died in 1956.

Ethel Christenson had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, two sons-in-law, parents and five brothers.

Survivors include: her daughter, Dorthea Brewster, Laurens; grandchildren, Betty and husband Duane, Sioux Rapids, Bruce and wife, Deb, Laurens, and Marilyn Nile, Forsythe, Mont.; great-grandchildren Terry and wife, Etta, Kurt Edward, Paul, and Kurt Joseph; great-great-granddaughter, Amanda; nieces and nephews, and many friends.
