CORRECTIONVILLE NEWS, 1911/10/19 page-4, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Sewell Van Alstine age 87, a prominent figure in pioneer life in this vicinity died at his homestead near Gilmore City. Farm was purchased in 1871 from the Government and recently it was found to have valuable rock, that was sold to Portland Cement Ccrp. Mr.Van Alstine was a civil war veteran serving the entire war with numerous honors.
Note, Sewell Van Alstine is found in Pocohantas co. 1880, and 1900 census, 1870 in Boone co. Ill.
