I found where my John Schmieding died and was buried. He died in 1870 at Dyersville, IA. This is recorded at the Catholic Church there. He was also buried there. The John Schmieding who died in 1965 is that John Schmieding's grandson. John Sr.'s wife Elizabeth Springer Schmieding then moved to Plymouth County Iowa with her son, Casper, where she remarried a Lansing/Lensing. She died and was buried there. Yes, Casper Schmieding was a son of John and Elizabeth. He was married to Mary Felsheim 26 Nov. 1877. Mary was born in 1860 and died 7 Nov. 1891. Then Casper remarried Josephine Moorman Goebel on 16 Oct. 1894. In approximately 1900, Casper moved to South Dakota. From there he moved to Lac qui Parle County Minnesota. Casper died 28 Nov. 1931. I have been in contact with a granddaughter of Casper from Windom, MN. She gave me a bunch of old pictures that were not identified. Some were taken at (Dwight's Studio) Remsen, Kingsley, and Marcus, IA. Maybe you can identify some of them. All these pictures have connections to the Schmiedings.
