Resident Dies at Home
Jan. 9, Age 77

Funeral services for Mrs. J. P. Larson, longtime resident of Fredonia township northwest of Remsen who died at her home Saturday, January 9, were held Tuesday afternoon.

Services, with the Rev. Dr. L.L. Belk officiating, were held in St. John’s American Lutheran church in Le Mars, and interment was made in the Remsen community cemetery.

Born in Denmark

Born April 29, 1876, in Skrustrup, Denmark, she was the daughter of Nis and Herlig Nielsen who came to this country when she was a young woman, settled in Fredonia township.

She was united in marriage September 16, 1893, to J.P. Larson, another longtime resident of the neighborhood and who preceded her in death. The marriage took place in a Lutheran parsonage in Le Mars.

Mrs. Larson, a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith in which she was baptized and confirmed in her native home, was a faithful member of the church, a devoted wife and mother and one who because of her Christian devotedness endeared herself to a host of friends.

Surviving are six sons and three daughters: Nis H., Henry D., and Niels C., all at home, Martin L. of Remsen and Louis P. and Herbert L., both of Le Mars; Elsie and Herlig at home, and Mrs. Merle (Viola) Neisius of Le Mars.

Preceding her in death were, besides her husband, four sons, her parents and three sisters.

The Moeller funeral home of Remsen had charge of funeral arrangements.
