Raymond Wilmes Raymond Wilmes, 65, lifetime Le Mars resident, died Wednesday (June 7, 1972) at Floyd Valley hospital after a brief illness. He had lived at 611 Third St. SW.
He was born in Le Mars, Aug. 23, 1906, the son of John B. and Mary Conrady Wilmes. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. Mr. Wilmes was never married.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic church with Rev. John Turza officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors are a brother Arnold Wilmes, Merrill, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilmes was a veteran of World War 2 and had served in the air force. He was a member of the Eagles club and Wasmer post 241, American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and four brothers.
