Gertrude married Everett Zinn in 1940 in Storm Lake. The couple lived in Storm Lake for a short time and then in Le Mars for over 50 years. Gertrude is survived by her son Jerry Zinn and his wife, Barb of North Liberty and two grandsons, Nathan Zinn and Tony Zinn, both of Chicago. Gertrude is also survived by many nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond. She shared a special bond with the Wolfswinkel family of Le Mars and the Fiscus family of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 13 brothers and sisters.

Gertrude chose to be cremated. Her family will host an open house celebration of her life on Saturday, April 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, in Iowa City. Burial will be at a later date in Le Mars.

Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to Lutheran World Relief.
