Edna Hardacre, 89, of Le Mars passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Reverend Jan Christensen of Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Grant Township, rural Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship. Edna Theresa Dirks was born January 16, 1923 in Grant Township, rural Le Mars, the daughter of Eilert and Mary (Frerichs) Dirks. She attended country school in Grant Township. She was united in marriage to Joseph Hardacre on September 2, 1947 at Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township, rural Le Mars. Edna worked at several businesses including Aalfs Manufacturing, Le Mars Flower House, National Food Store, and JoNee Manufacturing. Joe passed away December 6, 2005. Edna continued to make her home in Le Mars. For the past eight months, Edna had been a resident at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars. Edna was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Eagle''s Auxiliary. Through the years, Edna enjoyed her many friends, playing cards, playing bingo, and working crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include a son: Tom Hardacre and his wife Wendy of Park Rapids, MN; a daughter: Renee Hardacre and her husband Dennis Sampson of Broomfield, CO; two sisters-in-law: Esther Rickabaugh of Minnetonka, MN and Josephine Small of Akron, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; four sisters: Carrie Bruns (Louie), Lena Hartman (John), Emma Collman (Clarence), and a sister in infancy; three brothers: John Dirks, Martin Dirks, and Frederick Dirks.
