Martin Eilert Dirks, 54, died Wednesday at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.
He was born Sept. 7, 1916, near Le Mars, Iowa. He married Helen A. Kenowith on Feb. 16, 1939, in Plymouth County and moved to Sioux City in November, 1942. He was an auto mechanic.
Survivors include the widow; a son, Eugene at home; four daughters, Mrs. William (Loes) Abbe of South Sioux City, Mrs. Philip (Betty) Williams and Mrs. John (Shirley) Figge Jr., both of Sioux City, and Karen at home; a brother, John S. of Le Mars; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Hartmann of Craig, Iowa, Mrs. Emma Collman of Mason City, Iowa, and Mrs. Edna Hardacre of Le Mars; and eight grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Martin Eilert Dirks, 54, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Q. Johnson, Lutheran institutional chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in the Ireton, Iowa cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Dupic, James Carberg, Ray Titus, Clarence Hanson, Larry Reich and Gary Hookman.
Mr. Dirks died Wednesday at University Hospital in Iowa City.
