Mrs. Mary I. Redmond, 69, wife of M. B. Redmond, residing 318 Central Avenue NE, well known and popular woman in Le Mars since girlhood, died Sunday, May 25, at her home.

News of her death brought expressions of regret from many people who have known and liked her all her life.

Mary Molampy was born September 21, 1871, at Cohoes, New York state. When a child she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Molampy, to Le Mars.

Roger Molampy served in the Civil War and on coming here followed his occupation of plasterer and mason and was a skilled craftsman. He was member of the city police force for several years.

Mrs. Molampy died when her daughter, Mary was a young girl and she, after receiving a good education in New York on return to Le Mars, kept house for her father and brothers until her marriage to Mr. Redmond. They were married at St. James Church in this city, June 20, 1911, Rev. Father P. O’Farrell officiating.

Mrs. Redmond was active in church and community work and a favorite in social circles and popular in all walks of life where she never forgot the old friends her father made.

She leaves her husband, M. B. Redmond, a brother, George Molampy, of Chicago, a niece and nephew, Mary and Richard Molampy, of Rapid City, S.D.

Three brothers, Philip, Roger, and Cornelius, all well known in Le Mars, preceded her in death.

The funeral will be held this Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock in St. James Church, Father L. J. Cooper officiating and interment made in St. James Cemetery.

Wiltigen’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
