John F. Harms

John F. Harms, 88, rural Le Mars, died Tuesday (Sept. 17, 1991) at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars.

Services were Friday at Christ Lutheran church, rural Le Mars, Grant township. Rev. Jack Hebard officiated. Burial was in Christ Lutheran church cemetery, under direction of Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.

Mr. Harms was born Dec. 10, 1902, rural Le Mars, the son of Fred and Lena (Dirks) Harms. He married Alma B. Witt Oct. 1, 1925, in Akron. The couple farmed in Plymouth county. Mrs. Harms died April 25, 1991. He was a lifelong Plymouth county resident except for 11 years when he lived at Brookings, S. D.

Mr. Harms was a member of Christ Lutheran church, rural Le Mars.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Glennes and Gerald Dieterman of Merrill and Shirley and Frit Brandt of Lexington, Neb.; two sons and their wives, Marlin and Pauline Harms of Le Mars and Douglas and Rose Harms of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Glen; a brother, Hank; and three sisters, Ann Brabander, Kate Siebels and Emma Powell.
